Spring concert
The 37th Annual Spring Concert: “From Gottschalk to Gershwin, Exploring the Roots of American Music” in honor of Rabbi David Z. Vaisberg will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 8 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El, Edison. A dessert buffet will follow the concert. Admission is $36 general, $18 students, $136 patrons (includes two tickets and a CD), $250 for Angels (includes four tickets and a CD); add $5 for purchase of tickets at the door. PJ Library, supported by Jewish Federation in the Heart of NJ, will celebrate Israel’s 71st Independence Day with a “virtual” trip to Israel on Sunday, May 19, 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at The Hebrew Academy, Marlboro. Activities will include visiting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, milking a “cow” on the kibbutz, working on an archeological dig in Masada, learning Hebrew, and eating at an Israeli market.
