Pursuit of Harmony
April 12, 2019 - April 14, 2019
The Jewish-Muslim interfaith duo who formed Pursuit of Harmony, Michael Hunter Ochs and Alaa Alshaham, will bring their musical talent to Temple Rodeph Torah in Marlboro as Scholars-in-Residence this weekend.
Pursuit of Harmony, who perform in Hebrew, Arabic, and English, have brought their music and conversation to synagogues, mosques, churches, and community centers around the world. Its principals are Ochs, composer in residence at Congregation Micah in Nashville and East End Temple in New York; and Alshaham, a West Bank resident who is a commentator on Palestinian current affairs and established the Big Dream Initiative Children’s Choir. The pair first met in Ramallah in 2009.
The program features a Friday night Rock Shabbat service at 8 p.m., a Lunch and Learn session at noon following the 10 a.m. Saturday morning service, and a Sunday Rock Shabbat fund-raising concert at 5 p.m.
Reservations are required for the Lunch and Learn; register for the event and the Sunday concert at concert.trt.org.
