On Oct. 16, my wife and I attended a presentation by J Street executive director Jeremy Ben-Ami at Temple Emanu-El in Westfield. There he expressed his views on how to help achieve peace through a two-state solution between Israel and its neighbors.
One of his key points was that we “must make peace with our enemy.” referring to the Palestinian Authority and Hamas.
The question that time didn’t permit me to ask was, “How does one make peace with an enemy that won’t even acknowledge you exist?”
As sincere and well meaning as Mr. Ben-Ami and J Street may be, we don’t believe their approach is beneficial or helpful to a lasting peace for Israel and her neighbors, and actually may be counter-productive.
