William Willner

William Charles Willner, 89, of Warren Township died Jan. 15, 2012. He previously lived in South Orange.

Mr. Willner was president of Willner Industries, which was based in Irvington.

He served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Aachen, Germany. He was honored with an appointment as Chevalier of the French Legion of Honor for his display of heroism on behalf of their country during World War II.

Mr. Willner is survived by his wife of 59 years, Roberta (Coggan); a son, Ross; two daughters, Carol Simkin and Alison Willner; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 18 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
