William Willner
William Charles Willner, 89, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Warren Township died Jan. 15, 2012. He was formerly of South Orange.
Mr. Willner was president of Willner Liquors and Willner Industries in Irvington.
He was a graduate of UCLA.
He served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Aachen, Germany. He was honored with the appointment as Chevalier of the French Legion of Honor for his display of heroism on behalf of their country during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Roberta (Coggan); his son, Ross; two daughters, Carol Simkin and Alison Willner; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 18 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
