William Mayer
William Mayer, 83, of Monroe Township died March 24, 2018. Born in Philadelphia, he grew up in Plainfield, later raised his family in North Brunswick, and was a resident of Greenbriar at Whittingham in Monroe for more than 20 years.
Mr. Mayer was a manufacturer’s sales representative for the Suave Shoe Corporation for 25 years.
Following his retirement, he hosted “Active Adults,” a local radio show covering issues regarding seniors. He was an active volunteer and speaker for the AARP, and the 2006 recipient of the Andres Award for his volunteer service. He was involved with the Greenbriar at Whittingham community, where he was master of ceremonies for shows and served as president of the Yiddish Club.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ginny; three daughters, Suzanne Mayer (Ron) Aspir, Sandra (Carl) Feller, and Jill Wolk (John Middleton); a sister, Loretta Brickman; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held March 27 at Congregation Beth Chaim, Princeton Junction, with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to The Parkinson Council or Alzheimer’s Association.
