William B. Leder

William B. Leder, 86, of South Orange died July 14, 2011. Born in New York City, he lived there and in Troy, NY; Bloomfield; Fords; St. Paul, Minn.; and Westfield before moving to South Orange over three years ago.

Mr. Leder was a chemical engineer and engineering manager for the 3M Company of St. Paul for 30 years. He was then employed as an engineering consultant for Polarome International of Newark, before becoming the owner and operator of WBL Compliance Engineering in Westfield for five years before retiring.

He earned an MS in applied statistics from Rutgers University.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Columbia University Alumni Association, Knights of Pythias, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and the American Chemical Society.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Shuster); two daughters, Gwyneth of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Jacqueline Jill of Naperville, Ill.; a son, Richard Owen of Palo Alto, Calif.; three grandchildren; and his companion, Thelma Gold.

Services were held July 17 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, West Orange.
