Walter Zeman

Walter Zeman, 95, of West Orange died Jan. 19, 2015.

Mr. Zeman was co-owner with his late wife, Gloria, of Zeman’s Department Store in Newark and was a former auditor for the State of New Jersey.

He was a graduate of Ohio State University and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honorary business fraternity.

A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, for which he received a Bronze Star Medal for his heroism.

He was a member of the Roseville Lions Club, Clinton Hayes Lions Club, and Jewish War Veterans.

He is survived by two daughters, Allyson (Bruce) Speier of Parsippany and Michelle Zeman (Howard Feiwus) of West Caldwell; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

Services were held Jan. 21 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
