Walter J. Fessler
Walter J. Fessler of Springfield and West Stockbridge, Mass., died Sept. 13, 2010. He was born in Brooklyn and raised in Maplewood and Morristown.
Mr. Fessler had a long and successful career as a partner with Lum, Drasco & Positan LLC in Roseland, concentrating in complex business transactions and taxation. He was also a former judicial clerk of Judge Gerald McLaughlin, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and was admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and New York.
He graduated from Rutgers University and New York University Law School.
He served on the NJ Corporate and Business Law Study Commission and was a member of the NJ State Bar Association, as well as the American Bar Association on Taxation, and an active member of the Inn of Transactional Counsel.
He also was a talented woodworker who produced many works of art.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Billet-Fessler; his son, Michael of Cary, NC; his daughter, Karen Ephraim of Santa Monica, Calif.; two stepchildren, Meredith Mintz of South Orange and Kerry Blinder of Scarsdale, NY; two sisters, Evelyn Marvel of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Harriet Goodman of Milltown; a brother, Henry of Towson, Md.; and six grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 15 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey.
