Virginia S. Kaplan, 94, of Tamarac, Fla., died Oct. 27, 2012. She grew up in Irvington and also had lived in Newark and West Orange.
Mrs. Kaplan was a teacher in the Newark public school system for over 35 years and a Sunday school teacher at Temple B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills. After retiring from teaching in 1989, she worked as an office assistant in a medical practice in Florida.
Predeceased by her husband, Jack, and a daughter, Barbara, she is survived by two daughters, Gail K. (Melvin) Hecht and Lynn K. (Herman) Epstein; her son, Keith W. (Caryn); 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 4 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to The Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714.
