Theodore Yecies
Theodore “Ted” Yecies, 103, of West Orange died Jan. 25, 2012. He was born in Newark.
Growing up in Newark, he helped his father in his hardware store, L. D. Yecies & Sons.
In 1947 he started Tesco Distributors Inc., a wholesale refrigeration and air conditioning company in Irvington. He served as president of Tesco until his retirement in 1963.
He was a trustee of Congregation B’nai Israel, Millburn, and a past president of the Ruth Gottscho Kidney Foundation. He was a member of the Millburn Boosters and B’nai B’rith of Millburn and Florida.
Predeceased by his wife, Sylvia, whom he married in 1933, in 2008, he is survived by his twin daughters, Carolyn Blum of Livingston and Marcia Kirsten of Short Hills; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 27 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ruth Gottscho Kidney Foundation, 515 Warwick Ave., Teaneck, NJ 07666.
