The men’s synagogue basketball league
THE MEN’S SYNAGOGUE basketball league recently completed their second season. Congregation Israel of Springfield (CIS) defeated Temple Sinai of Summit 40-35 to capture their second straight “Kiddush Cup” trophy.
“I’m so proud of our team,” said CIS Captain Shmuel Babich. “It was incredible to win again and to be able to hang on to the cup. This is a great league to play in. Our guys were so happy to be able to participate and are already talking about next year.”
Nine teams from seven Greater MetroWest synagogues participated in the league. The teams played an eight-game weeknight schedule, plus playoffs; all games were held at Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy in Livingston.
All are welcome to join the third season, which will begin late fall. Contact Seth Leeds, seth.leeds@yahoo.com.
