Syma Kasdin
Syma S. Kasdin of Wellington, Fla., died Jan. 6, 2015. She grew up in Maplewood and lived in Short Hills until moving to Florida 22 years ago.
Mrs. Kasdin was very involved in the Jewish community. She served as a former campaign chair of the Women’s Division (now Women’s Philanthropy) of United Jewish Appeal of Greater MetroWest NJ and was a lifetime member of its Women’s Division. She was the recipient of the federation’s Julius and Bessie Cohn Young Leadership Award.
She was very involved in JESPY House in South Orange, where she was instrumental in getting it built. She was a member of Temple B’nai Abraham in Livingston and Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell.
She attended Syracuse University and University of Maryland.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gerald; her son, Steven; her daughter, Julie Kasdin Odette; and four grandchildren.
