Sylvia Rubin

Sylvia Rubin (Chernoff), 87, of Monroe Township died Aug. 9, 2014. Born on New York’s Lower East Side, she moved to the Bronx in 1941 before residing in New Brunswick for 40 years and moving to Monroe in 1996.

Mrs. Rubin retired in 1992 after being employed for 35 years as a legal secretary for the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office in New Brunswick. 

She attended classes and became a literacy volunteer for Middlesex County. She was also a mediator to Vicinage of Middlesex County.

She was elected as a committeewoman for the Democratic Club.

Predeceased by her husband, Bernard E., in 2002, and her son, Mitchell, in 2005, she is survived by her daughter, Linda (Robert) Jacob; two grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Lisa (Rubin) (Ed Cicorek).

Services were held Aug. 10 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Feed the Children, Community FoodBank, or National Foundation for Cancer Research.
