Sylvia Kolber (Schwartz), 89, of Monroe Township died July 25, 2017. Born in Brooklyn, she grew up in Newark and also had lived in Hillside and West Orange.

A camp nurse for 10 years at Camp Shomria in Liberty, N.Y., Mrs. Kolber obtained her RN from Newark Beth Israel School of Nursing. She also held a bachelor of arts from Montclair State College.

She was instrumental in establishing the Yiddish Club at Greenbriar at Whittingham in Monroe in the 1990s.

Predeceased by her husband, Henry, she is survived by two sons, Mark (Denise) and Jeffrey (Nora); her daughter, Lauren Kolber (Scott Zeigen); and six grandchildren.

Services were held July 27 with arrangements by Goldsteins’ Rosenberg’s Raphael-Sacks, Southampton, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to The Yiddish Book Center, Amherst, Mass.; or Camp Shomria, 52 Lake Marie Rd., Liberty, N.Y. 12754.
