Sylvia Edelman (Sine), 88, of South Orange died July 16, 2012. Born in Newark, she lived most of her life in West Orange before moving to South Orange, where she lived for the past 15 years.
Mrs. Edelman was employed as an associate for Ace Check Cashing in Elizabeth for over 40 years.
She graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark.
She was active with United Jewish Appeal and B’nai Shalom of West Orange. For many years, she was also a volunteer at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston.
Predeceased by her husband, “Buddy,” in 1994, she is survived by her son, Stuart; her daughter, Bobbi Ostrowsky; a sister, Rose Bodner Mallen; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 17 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buddy Edelman Library Fund at B’nai Shalom or the St. Barnabas Medical Center Development Foundation.
