Sylvia Baron

Sylvia Baron (Spivack) of Short Hills died Feb. 12, 2011. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Short Hills since 1975.

Mrs. Baron worked for the Social Security Administration in New York City for 33 years, her last position being supervisor of the Reconsideration Unit until her retirement in 1975.

A member of Hadassah, she performed volunteer work for over 30 years at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn. An active member of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel of South Orange, she volunteered at its Gift Shop and was a sisterhood member, as well as engaging in volunteer work for Brandeis University.

Predeceased by her husband, Jerome, she is survived by her son, Elliot of Wantagh, NY; a brother, Lester Spivack of Brooklyn; and two grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 14 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
