Syd Musikar, 96, of West Orange died Dec. 23, 2017. Born in Poland, she lived in New Rochelle, White Plains, and Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to West Orange 12 years ago.
Mrs. Musikar graduated high school at the age of 16 and worked full time while attending Brooklyn College at night. She worked as a bookkeeper, and finally as an office manager for an advertising firm on Madison Avenue.
She was involved in youth groups at Temple Israel Center of White Plains. While a member of Beth El Synagogue of New Rochelle, she was involved with talking tapes for the blind and cooking for the soup kitchen. She was also involved in the Pastoral Care Program at New Rochelle Hospital, now North Shore Hospital.
Predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Barney, she is survived by two daughters, Lynn Kehr (Frank) Raimondi and Alice Musikar (Steven) Hirsh; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
