Stuart Cooper
Stuart Franklin Cooper of Morristown, formerly of Chatham Township, died June 5, 2014.
Mr. Cooper joined his family business, Cooper Alloy Metals in Hillside, at a very young age, eventually becoming president.
A 1953 graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Me., he served his country during the Korean War.
He was active with Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ. He was a founding member of Fairmount Country Club, Chatham, and a member of Mountain Ridge Country Club, West Caldwell. A past president of Temple Sinai, Summit, he was also active at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills. He was the administrator of the Florence and Harry A. Cooper Foundation, a scholarship fund for students in need.
Predeceased by his first wife, Doree, he is survived by his wife, Jane Burke Cooper; three daughters, Michaele (Fred) Silverberg, Stephanie Sussman, and Sloane Cooper; his stepdaughter, Ainsley Burke (Richard Metter); his stepson, Robert (Andrea) Burke; six grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Services were held June 8 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
