Steven Schachner
Steven Schachner, 65, of Woodbridge died Jan. 3, 2013. Born in Newark, he also had resided in Hillside and Edison.
Mr. Schachner was a money broker in New York City on Wall Street for Lasser Brothers for many years.
He graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark and received his bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He also attended graduate school at Seton Hall University.
A 7th Dan black belt in karate, he was a member of the IAMA-International Association of Martial Arts.
Predeceased by his father, Lawrence, he is survived by his mother, Gertrude of Edison; a brother, Wayne of Edison; a sister, Heidi (Joe) Peterson of Montgomery, NY; his niece, Jaime Young; two nephews, Zachary and Spencer Peterson; a great-niece; his girlfriend, Clara Rodriguez; and his former wife, Alba Schachner.
Services were held Jan. 4 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
