Stanley R. Friedman, 89, of Monroe Township died Jan. 1, 2018. He was born in Brooklyn and moved to Monroe after retiring in 1993.
After teaching in various elementary schools, Mr. Friedman became assistant principal at JHS 178 and PS 208, both in Brooklyn.
He graduated from Cornell University and received a M.S. in education from Brooklyn College.
He was active with Brandeis and the Concordia History clubs in Monroe. He was also on the executive board of Knights of Pythias and CSA-NJ. Through the years, he gave small violin concerts.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen; three sons, Bruce (Gemma), Fred (Christina), and Bill (Robin); a sister, Esterlee Stein; and 10 grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 7 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.
