Stanley Epstein

Stanley Epstein, 84, of Jackson, formerly of West Long Branch, died Jan. 18, 2011.

Mr. Epstein worked as a consulting engineer for over 50 years.

He graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology.

In 1999 he received a heart transplant at the University of California at San Diego. At the time he was one of the oldest persons to survive the procedure. After moving back to New Jersey, he became active in organ donor causes and in the NJ Sharing Network.

Predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Gloria Bialek Epstein, and a son, David, he is survived by his son, Howard of Irvington, NY; his daughter, Lynn Laurino of Oceanport; five grandchildren; and a close companion, Estelle Goodstein.

Services were held Jan. 19 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made to the NJ Sharing Network, New Providence.
