Stanley David Gilbert

Stanley David Gilbert, 90, of Monroe Township died March 28, 2011. He was born in Orange, raised in Newark, and also lived in Fanwood.

Mr. Gilbert worked as a controller at Union Carbide. He also had begun his own computer company and worked for many years as the controller of Union County College, where he was also a professor emeritus.

He graduated from Newark’s Weequahic High School and Rutgers University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

He served in World War II with the 93rd Armored Field Artillery.

He was an avid golfer who earned four holes in one.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, June Helene Gilbert; two sons, Barry and Alan, both of Colorado; his daughter, Geri Ann Gilbert of Basking Ridge; and two brothers, Marvin of Princeton and Kenneth of Florida.

Services were held March 30 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
