Solomon Borodkin
Solomon Elias Borodkin, 85, of Cliffside Park died Sept. 27, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn.
Mr. Borodkin was director of quality control for more than 20 years at Diagravure Film Manufacturing Co. in Brooklyn until his retirement in 1994. He started off in the pharmaceutical industry working at Premo, was in charge of R&D at Domino Sugar, and in Israel worked at Hydronautics at the Weizmann Institute and at Plantex in Netanya.
He and his wife were among the original founders of Kibbutz Urim in the Negev and Congregation Or Zarua in Manhattan.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma; two daughters, Arlene Swern (David Grayson) of Parsippany and Wendy Borodkin (Ira Brandwein); five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 29 with arrangements by Eden Memorial Chapels, Fort Lee. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish National Fund, ORT, Hillel, Gesher Shalom of Fort Lee, or Friends of the IDF.
