Sol Wiener, 95, of Springfield died June 18, 2011. Born in West New York, he lived in Belleville and Newark before moving to Springfield in 1971.
Mr. Wiener was the owner of Sol Wiener Beauty Supply in Springfield, retiring in 1990.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in counter-intelligence, he was a graduate of City College of New York.
He was a member of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael, Springfield; B’nai B’rith, South Orange; and the Jewish War Veterans.
Predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Alice (Benator), he is survived by two daughters, Diane Goldberg of Harrisburg, Pa., and Ellen Pedinoff of Livingston; two sisters, Shirley Borgos of New York City and Doris Benator of Atlanta; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 20 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael.
