Sidney Weinstein
Sidney Herbert Weinstein, 88, of Lakewood died March 3, 2013. He was born and grew up in Newark and raised his family in Hillside before moving to Lakewood 19 years ago.
Mr. Weinstein ran his family business, Flash Cleaners and Shirt Launderers. He also briefly worked for the U.S. Postal Service.
He was a graduate of Weequahic High School, Newark.
He served his country in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a radioman First Class in the United States Coast Guard.
He was an active member of veterans’ organizations such as Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois; his son, William (Janet) of Colonia; his daughter, Amy (John) Montouri of Cranford; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 5 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
