Sidney L. Stern, 92, of Monroe Township died Oct. 22, 2014. Born in Kearny, he lived in Perth Amboy before moving to Monroe 29 years ago.
An accountant by profession, Mr. Stern worked as CFO of CeDe Candy Company, Inc., Union.
He graduated from Rutgers University.
He served during World War II in the South Pacific.
He served on the board of trustees of the Jewish Community of Concordia for 20 consecutive years. He was a lifelong member of Congregation Beth Mordecai in Perth Amboy, serving on its cemetery committee. He also was a member of the Masonic Temple.
Predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Charlotte, on Feb. 26, 2014, he is survived by his son, Norman; his daughter, Deborah (David) Heidecorn; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 24 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to The Lustgarten Foundation at curepc.org.
