Sidney Meyer

Sidney Meyer, 81, of Pompton Plains died Jan. 3, 2014. He lived in North Caldwell for 48 years and in New York City before moving to Pompton Plains a year and a half ago.

Mr. Meyer was retired as a CPA and partner from Deloitte & Touche of New York City, where he spent his career of 40 years.

He was an Air Force veteran and graduated as a 1st Lieutenant from Syracuse University, which he attended as an R.O.T.C. student.

He was very active at Congregation Agudath Israel in Caldwell and, while living in New York, was men’s club president of Park Avenue Synagogue.

He was an avid skier and an amateur artist, creating pieces of art from wood and leather.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn; two daughters, Denise (Chuck) Adelman of Warren and Andrea (Michael) Stoff; his son, Douglas (Valeska); and four grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 5 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Somerville.
