Shirley Hoenig
Shirley Hoenig (Burns), 87, of Tinton Falls died Oct. 24, 2014. Born in Newark, she lived in Orange and then for 50 years in Edison before moving to Tinton Falls in 2013.
During World War II, Mrs. Hoenig worked for the Army Signal Corps and the Veterans Administration. She was assistant head bookkeeper at Remco Industries in Newark for eight years, and later was a bookkeeper for Robert L. Fischbein, CPA.
She graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark.
She was a longtime member of Temple Emanu-El in Edison and its sisterhood.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Richard H.; two sons, Jeffrey (Monika) of Phillipsburg and Scott of Washington, DC; her daughter, Amy (Steve) Rubin of Tinton Falls; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 26 with arrangements by Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Edison.
