Shirley Feinberg

Shirley Feinberg (Oppenheim), 91, of West Orange died April 11, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, she moved to Elizabeth in 1952 and later to Westfield and Scotch Plains. She spent summers on Long Beach Island.

Mrs. Feinberg taught high school in Philadelphia, later working as a social worker for distressed children in St. Louis and in Philadelphia. She became a full-time homemaker after her marriage in 1952.

She earned a BS from Temple University. 

She was a lifetime member of Hadassah. She also was an avid and competitive duplicate bridge player.

Predeceased by her husband, Bernard, in 1977, she is survived by three daughters, Susan (Martin) Grossman of West Orange, Jane (Charles) Stotter of Westfield, and Debra (Ronald) Sperling of North Brunswick, and four grandchildren.

Services were held April 14 with arrangements by Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Inc., Edison. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
