Sheldon Paul Osterweil, 74, of Monroe Township died Feb. 24, 2013. He was raised in Newark and lived in Edison from 1964 to 2002 before moving to Monroe.
In 1968, Mr. Osterweil and a few employees from Mooney Brothers started Amsco Sales Corp., an industrial distributor of specialty pipes and valves based in Fairfield. He became president of the company in 1984 until his retirement in 2001.
He graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark, and Seton Hall University.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (Kiken); two sons, Evan (Kathy) of New Paltz, NY, and Stuart (Dawn) of Holmdel; his daughter, Danna Osterweil Gang (Greg Gang) of Short Hills; a sister, Karen (Osterweil) Freeman; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 27 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joe Valentine Fund (www.joevfund.com).
