Seymour Sussman
Seymour “Sy” Sussman, 94, of Rockaway died Dec. 29, 2017. Born in Romania, he came to the United States as a young child.
For many years Mr. Sussman owned and ran Airtech, serving as the New Jersey representative for a leading air filtration equipment manufacturer and securing projects such as the Meadowlands and Newark International Airport. He was a member of and certified by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. He was awarded a U.S. design patent for his freezer/furniture concept, Thermiture.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He sang baritone, and played harmonica and piano, performing in amateur shows.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet; two daughters, Ilene (Stuart) Schwartz of Rockaway and Diane Benjuya of Israel; his son, Jeffrey (Annette Zrihen) of Brookline, Mass.; a sister, Muriel Eagle of Woodland Park; three brothers, David of New London, N.H., Sidney of Hallandale Beach, Fla., and Gerald of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services were held Dec. 31 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels, Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to Environmental Defense Action Fund.
