Seymour Bodner

Seymour S. Bodner, 85, of West Caldwell died March 18, 2013. Born in Newark, he was raised in West Orange and lived in Livingston for 41 years ago before moving to West Caldwell a few months ago.

For 40 years, Mr. Bodner maintained a consulting engineering practice in the field of accident reconstruction and failure analysis. Earlier, he was an engineer in the plastics industry.

He wrote for periodical trade journals, presented papers at various Technical Society Symposia, and lectured under the auspices of Stevens Institute of Technology.

He was a graduate of West Orange High School. He received a BS in mechanical engineering in 1948 and his MS in 1954, both from Newark College of Engineering.

He was a past president and director of the New Jersey Section of the Society of Plastics Engineers and was a member of the New Jersey and National Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Safety Engineers, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rita (Horowitz); two sons, Marc and Russell (Nancy); his daughter, Faye (Paul) Kovner; a sister, Pearl Bass; and four grandchildren.

Services were held March 20 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Shalom, Livingston.
