Seymour Barnett

Seymour Barnett of Westfield died Feb. 14, 2014. He was born in New York City and raised in Brooklyn, one of 10 brothers and sisters.

In the late 1940s, Mr. Barnett became involved in the family machine tool distributing business and later became president of DeWitt Tool Company, Kenilworth.

He studied engineering at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn.

He was a B-17 pilot, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945.

He was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers for more than 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty; his son, Peter (Susan); two daughters, Nancy (Siljoy) and Ruth (David); three brothers, Bobby, Larry, and Bert; a sister, Maureen; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Arrangements were handled by Gutterman Bros., Hackensack. A private memorial tribute will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 356, Westfield, NJ 07091.
