Sanford Pasteelnick, 90, of Stamford, Conn., died July 1, 2013. Born and raised in Newark, he lived in Hillside and for most of his life in Elizabeth until moving to Stamford in 2003.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Signal Corps and saw action in Europe.
After his discharge, the government paid for his education and he graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor of science in business administration, accounting major.
A sports enthusiast, in his younger years he was a 5 handicap golfer and in bowling he had one 300 game and a high three-game series of 713.
Predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Leona (Strauss), in 2001, he is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Coulter; his son, Robert; and two grandsons.
Services were held July 3 with arrangements by Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, Stamford.
