Sanford Gutentag

Sanford Gutentag, 92, of Verona died June 8, 2011. Born in the Bronx, he lived in Verona for the past 15 years and also maintained a residence in Boynton Beach, Fla.

Mr. Gutentag was the proprietor of the Sanford Gutentag Poultry Company in Newark for 40 years, retiring 26 years ago.

He attended New York University.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radio man.

He was a member of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills, for the last 60 years. He was also a member of Cedar Hill Country Club in Livingston and Hunter’s Run Country Club in Boynton Beach.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley (Ladell); his son, Herbert; his daughter, Joyce Hoch; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 10 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Daughters of Israel, West Orange, or Congregation B’nai Jeshurun.
