Sande Wische
Sande Wische, 88, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., died Jan. 1, 2016. He was born in Newark and moved to Palm Beach Gardens in 1994.
Mr. Wische attended Weequahic High School, Newark, where he was a three-sport athlete. After graduation he studied at the University of Illinois, but was forced to leave due to the sudden illness of his father.
He was called to operate the family business in his father’s absence. He turned his business experience into a multi-faceted career in the sale of fuel oil, solvents, and petrochemicals under the name of MacArthur Petroleum and Solvent Company.
He enjoyed golf at Shackamaxon Golf & Country Club for many years.
Predeceased by a son, Thomas Rettig Cooper, and a grandson, Max Kelly, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol Rettig Wische; three daughters, Lori (Todd) Stone, Jodie Wische (John Kelly), and Cathy (Andrew) Miller; two sons, Cary (Susan) Wische and Peter (Cathy) Cooper; and 12 grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 5 with arrangements by Bernheim–Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial tributes may be made to Gay Men’s Health Crisis or Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation.
