Samuel Krause

Samuel Krause, 80, of Manchester died Jan. 4, 2011. Born and raised in Bound Brook, he moved to Plainfield after his marriage and then lived in Ocean County for over 40 years.

Mr. Krause worked for Lakewood Township as a plumbing subcode inspector for 25 years before his retirement 10 years ago.

He was active at Congregation Ahavat Shalom, Lakewood, where he was one of the founding charter members and past men’s club president and would sound the shofar during High Holy Day services.

Predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Barbara, in 2003, and his son Mark in 1965, he is survived by his son Gary of Newton, Mass.; daughters Debbie of Raleigh, NC, and Francine of Manchester; and two grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 6 at Congregation Ahavat Olam, Howell, with arrangements by Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund at Ahavat Olam.
