Sam Edelman
Sam Edelman of Springfield died Nov. 26, 2010. Born in Newark, he lived in Union before moving to Springfield.
Before embarking as a career as a real estate entrepreneur, Mr. Edelman was trained as a baker in the Army in Fort Dix, and continued his career as a baker in Essex and Union counties, including at his own bakery, Chancellor Bake Shop, Pilger’s, Wigler’s, Kartzman’s, and the Claremont Diner.
He graduated from Central High School in Newark and Bergen Baking Academy.
He and his late wife, Doris, were longtime members of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael of Springfield and enjoyed membership in the JCC MetroWest’s Couples Club.
Predeceased by his wife, Doris (Daun), he is survived by his daughter, Janie Links of Springfield; his son, Abbe of Livingston; a brother, Jay of Bargaintown; his sister, Dora of California; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 29 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield First Aid Squad.
