Sam Baydin
Sam Baydin, 98, of Tampa, Fla., died April 15, 2012. Born in Wyszkow, Poland, he came to the United States at the age of seven after the end of World War I, living in Brooklyn. He resided for many years in Denville and Fair Lawn.
Mr. Baydin owned and operated Lane Jewelers in New York City for over 40 years and was considered an expert watch and clock restorer. He also became a skilled potter in retirement, specializing in the Raku method.
Predeceased by his wife, Frieda “Fritzy” (Selwitz), he is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Adele Brawer Baydin; two sons, Jeffrey of New Vernon and Richard of Boston; a sister, Esther “Bunny” Bloom of Deal; six stepchildren, Jan and Bill Bush of Denver; Bill Dingfelder and Laura Cohen of Bala Cynwyd, Pa., and John Dingfelder and Lynn Marvin Dingfelder of Tampa; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held with arrangements by Segal Funeral Home Beth David Chapel, Tampa.
