Rytlya Ritenband
Dr. Rytlya Ritenband, 95, of Somerset died Aug. 18, 2012. Born in Uzlyany, Belarus, she was evacuated during World War II to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where she lived from 1949 until 1991 when she immigrated to the United States. She first settled in Elizabeth, where she lived until relocating several years ago to Somerset.
Dr. Ritenband practiced as a pediatrician and later as a child psychiatrist in Tashkent before moving to the United States.
She attended university and received her medical degree in Tashkent.
She was a member of Bris Avrohom, Hillside, and Elmora Hebrew Congregation, Elizabeth.
She is survived by her son, Pavel Mayzel, and two grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 18 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
