Ruth Gottlieb Cohen

Ruth Gottlieb Cohen, 89, of Monroe Township died Oct. 3, 2011. Born in New York City, she also had resided in Passaic.

Mrs. Cohen was a World War II Army nurse, serving from 1942-45.

She managed the family owned store, Well-Worth Penny Bazaar in Passaic, while her husband returned to school to become a CPA.

She was an active member of Adas Israel Synagogue in Passaic and a member of its sisterhood. She was also a member of the Jewish Congregation of Clearbrook, Hadassah, and Brandeis Women.

Predeceased by her husband of more than 61 years, Boris, in 2008, she is survived by her daughter, Susan Cohen Slavet of Sharon, Mass.; two sons, Ira of Highland Park and Howard of Charlotte, NC; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 6 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation (Pancreatic Cancer Research), 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714; or a Jewish organization of choice.
