Ruth Colner

Ruth E. Colner (Eisen), 97, of Stamford, Conn., died March 28, 2018. Born and raised in Newark, she also had lived in West Orange and Longboat Key, Fla. 

Mrs. Colner was a homemaker. 

She graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark, class of 1938.

A volunteer for many organizations, she had been an active member of Oheb Shalom Congregation, South Orange, for over 60 years and a former co-president of its Miriam Sisterhood. She volunteered in the schools her children attended, and was a life member of Hadassah.

She was a master bridge player and enjoyed knitting, including for babies at local hospitals.

Predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Morris, and a son, Martin, she is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Jack Goldberg) of Stamford; two sons, Alan (Robin) of Scarsdale, N.Y., and Leonard of Lawrenceville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 2 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Oheb Shalom Congregation or Stamford chapter of Hadassah Special Memorial Fund.
