Ruth Barber
Ruth Druck Barber, 78, of Livingston died Aug. 30, 2017. She was born and raised in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Barber spent most of her career working as a learning consultant in Winfield Township. After her retirement she volunteered as an ESL teacher.
She held a B.A. from New Jersey City University and a M.Ed. in learning disabilities from Montclair State University.
Involved with numerous Jewish organizations and causes, she was a congregant of Temple Beth Shalom of Livingston for 51 years and a member of both Congregation Beth Tikvah of Naples, Fla., and Mishkan Shalom of Philadelphia. She was a Women’s Philanthropy officer and board member at Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, an active member of Jewish Federation of Collier County in Naples, and vice president of the Collier/Lee County chapter of Hadassah.
She is survived by her husband, Martin; two daughters, Fran (Mike) Davis and Meredith Barber (Michael Schwager); her son, Scott (Jennifer Schwartz); a brother, Michael Druck; a sister, Barbara Mishkin; and six grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 1 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions can be made to any the charities or organizations with which she was involved.
