Rudolf Berman
Rudolf Berman, 95, of West Orange died Dec. 6, 2017. He came to the United States to escape the Nazis at the age of 16; his parents and younger sister were all killed in the Holocaust.
Mr. Berman and his wife were the owners of Livingston Cake Box.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army during World War II. He served with Gen. George S. Patton until the end of the war, was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Livingston Old Guard, Jewish War Veterans, and the Margulies Senior Center at the JCC MetroWest in West Orange.
He survived by his wife of 71 years, Carola, and two daughters, Karen (Jeffrey) and Leslie (Harry).
Services were held Dec. 8 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
