Ruby Strauss

Ruby G. Strauss (Skinder) of West Palm Beach, Fla., died Feb. 3, 2016. Born in Newark, she lived in South Orange before moving to West Palm Beach 12 years ago. 

Mrs. Strauss was an editor and writer for Behrman House, a Hebrew publishing company in Springfield, for 20 years, retiring in 1998. 

She attended Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa., and earned a BA in education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., before receiving an MA from New York University in Hebrew literature. 

She was a member of the United Jewish Appeal. 

She is survived by her husband, Stanley; three sons, Thomas (Sandi) of Livingston, Kenneth (and his domestic partner Elizabeth) of East Hampton, NY, and Andrew (Katie) of Brooklyn; a brother, Richard Skinder of West Orange; and eight grandchildren. 

Services were held Feb. 7 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
