Roslyn Alpert
Roslyn Alpert (Sherman) of Rockaway died Oct. 29, 2011. Born in Newark, she lived in Livingston, Beach Haven, and New Smyrna Beach, Fla., before moving to Rockaway in 2002.
Mrs. Alpert taught fourth grade for 25 years at St. Cloud School in West Orange.
She was a graduate of Rutgers University and its Graduate School of Education.
She was a volunteer in the pharmacy department at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin and Bert Fisk Center in New Smyrna Beach.
A former member of Temple Emanu-El of West Essex in Livingston and the Jewish Center of LBI, she most recently was a member of Temple Shalom of Succasunna and its Renaissance, Sisterhood and L’Chaim clubs.
Predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, and her eldest son, Cory, she is survived by her daughter, Vivian Fantauzzi of Boardman, Ohio; two sons, Andrew of Denville and Jay of Peru, Mass.; a brother, Martin Sherman of Whippany; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 2 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Staten Island.
