Rose Nacht

Rose B. Nacht, 80, of Martinsville died Feb. 22, 2013. Born in New York City, she was raised in the Bronx and resided in Plainfield before moving to Martinsville in 1977.

Mrs. Nacht was employed as an elementary school teacher by the North Plainfield Board of Education, having first taught third grade and then second at the West End School. After retiring she returned to the school as a volunteer.

She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Newark State College.

She volunteered at the Young Authors Association reading program and the Head Start Program and was a Girl Scout leader while raising her family.

She was president of the Renaissance Group at Temple Sholom and a member of the National Council of Jewish Women in Plainfield.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Alan D.; her son, Arthur of Highland Park; two daughters, Susan (Ken) Sherman of Cincinnati and Barbara (David) Rosen of Succasunna; a sister, Roberta B. Hofmann of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 25 with arrangements by Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung.
