Rosalie Friedman
Rosalie “Rookie” Friedman, 93, of Morris Plains died Jan. 11, 2011. Born and raised in Poughkeepsie, NY, she also lived in Morristown and Convent Station before moving to Morris Plains in 2009.
Mrs. Friedman worked as a registered nurse at Morristown Memorial Hospital from 1942 until her retirement at age 74. She was also the owner, with her late husband Samuel, of Friedman and Son Stationery in Madison.
She received a nursing degree from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Poughkeepsie.
She was a congregant of Morristown Jewish Center Beit Yisrael for more than 60 years, where she was active in the sisterhood and Shalom Club, and she was also a lifetime member of Hadassah. She was a member of the Morris Township Senior Citizens Club, the Order of the Golden Chain, Newark-Amity Link #3, and the P.G. Chambers School Auxiliary.
Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by three sons, Burt of Somerset, Michael of San Francisco, and Terry of Haddonfield; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 14 with arrangements by Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains. Memorial contributions may be made to Morristown Jewish Center and its Shalom Club or P.G. Chambers School, Cedar Knolls.
