Robert Starr
Robert (Bob) Morton Starr, 90, of Livingston died Aug. 25, 2018. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he resided in Livingston for the past 46 years.
Mr. Starr retired as president and CEO of Manischewitz & Co., where he worked his entire career.
He was most recently vice president of Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest; previously, he served as vice president of American Jewish Congress and member of the board of trustees; board member of Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ; board member of American Jewish Committee’s Northern New Jersey region; chair of former Gov. Christine Whitman’s New Jersey-Israel Commission; and a member of Temple B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills.
After retirement, in addition to the many causes to which he dedicated his time, he engaged in learning opportunities, taking courses every semester for over 20 years at the New School, the 92nd Street Y, and New York
University.
Predeceased by his first wife, Bernice (Cohen); he is survived by his wife, Barbara (Barron); his son, Ian (Natalie Choate); his daughter, Susan (Yishai) Sered; two stepdaughters, Renée (Steven) Levin and Michelle Schaap (John Perkoff); and nine grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 26 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest or American Civil Liberties Union.
